Celebrating Jasmine’s Outstanding Youth Music Awards Achievement

Congratulations to Jasmine M of Year 8 on being named a finalist in the Sutherland Shire and St George Youth Music Awards. Jasmine impressed the judges with her vocal performance against a highly competitive field of instrumental and vocal performers and will compete for the title on 26 June at 7.30 pm at the Sutherland Arts Theatre. Jasmine also proudly represents Gymea Technology as a member of this year’s Southern Stars Featured Vocal Ensemble. Her achievements reflect confidence, creativity, independence, strong community engagement, and a commitment to excellence in the performing arts. We congratulate Jasmine and wish her every success.

Outstanding Representative Hockey Success for Zara Smith

Congratulations to Zara Smith of Year 11 on an outstanding series of achievements in representative hockey. Zara proudly represented Sydney East at the NSW Combined High Schools Hockey Championships in Albury for the third consecutive year as goalkeeper, competing against the state’s top public school players. She then represented Sydney South at the NSW Under 18 State Championships and was selected in the Hockey NSW Under 18 State Squad which is an exceptional accomplishment. Zara’s dedication, teamwork, sportsmanship and commitment to excellence are a wonderful reflection of Gymea Technology and inspire others to pursue their sporting goals.

Year 9 Brings History to Life Through Immersive Learning

Year 9 students at Gymea Technology stepped back in time during an engaging WWI and WWII History Incursion presented by Living History Australia. Through immersive performances, authentic historical costumes, maps, and wartime artefacts, students explored the social and political changes of the Industrial Revolution and the impact of the world wars from multiple perspectives. The interactive experience strengthened students’ inquiry skills, critical thinking, creativity, and reflection while supporting real-world learning, strong academic progress, and opportunities for high potential and gifted learners to deepen their historical understanding.

Gymea Technology HPGE Students Showcase History Knowledge Excellence

This term, students from Years 7–10 at Gymea Technology High School participated in the Australian History Competition, Australia’s largest history competition recognising high-achieving students. Held in the Hall, the event saw 60 HPGE students challenge themselves with questions aligned to the Australian History Curriculum, focusing on historical knowledge, skills, and understanding. Participation encouraged students to strengthen their research, comprehension, analytical writing, problem-solving, and performance skills while building confidence and supporting strong academic progress. The competition also inspired deeper engagement with Australian and world history beyond regular classroom learning and assessment tasks.

Fifteen Gymea Technology Students Advance to Regional Championships

Congratulations to our outstanding Gymea Technology students who proudly represented the school at the Sutherland Zone Athletics Carnival at The Ridge Athletic Track, Barden Ridge. A special congratulations to Charlie H (Year 7), crowned 12 Years Boys Zone Age Champion, and Finn D (Year 8), who broke two individual zone records. Our 14 Years Boys 4x100m Relay team also set a new zone record. We are incredibly proud of the 15 students selected to compete at the Sydney East Regional Championships next term, showcasing our school’s sporting excellence, resilience, teamwork and commitment to success.

Year 8 Inspired by Dual Olympian Alex Croak’s Journey

Year 8 students at Gymea Technology were inspired by Dual Olympian and Dual Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist Alex Croak during the Olympics Unleashed program. Alex shared her remarkable journey from beginning gymnastics at age 10 to training at the Australian Institute of Sport and competing at the Sydney 2000 and Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. Students were highly engaged, asking thoughtful questions and connecting with Alex’s powerful messages of resilience, grit, goal setting and finding their passion. A fantastic real-world learning experience that strengthened industry and community connections while inspiring sporting excellence and confidence.

Year 7 Geography Brings Liveability Learning to Life

Year 7 Geography A students at Gymea Technology have been exploring the factors that influence liveability by participating in the Happy Boxes Project. Working collaboratively, students researched, designed and created a Happy Box within a $60 budget to support young women in remote Indigenous communities. They also wrote heartfelt letters to accompany their donations, demonstrating empathy and respect. Now on its way to Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory, the project provided meaningful real-world learning while strengthening critical thinking, collaboration and student choice.

Geography Students Build Creative Solutions to Real-World Problems

Year 11 Geography students at Gymea Technology High School demonstrated outstanding creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking during an engaging Geography Scenario Activity. Students tackled real-world geographical challenges by designing refuge mounds to protect farm animals from an impending monsoon, inspired by practices in North Queensland, before constructing tall, stable structures on soft surfaces to model the engineering of Venice. Through hands-on learning, students showcased remarkable ingenuity, resilience, and innovation, highlighting strong academic progress while developing valuable problem-solving and collaborative skills.

Celebrating Creativity at the In the Spotlight Dance Festival

Congratulations to the Gymea Technology Year 9/10 Dance Company on their outstanding performance at the In the Spotlight Dance Festival at the Seymour Centre. Performing their powerful piece, Undivided, students explored the importance of friendship and supporting one another through creative movement. They represented Gymea Technology with pride, commitment, and professionalism, showcasing exceptional teamwork, confidence, and creativity while embracing valuable performing arts opportunities. Empowering Year 12 Through Targeted Academic Success Workshops

At Gymea Technology, our Year 12 students recently participated in a series of Academic Guidance Workshops designed to strengthen their preparation for the Trial and HSC examinations. Through targeted small-group sessions, students reflected on their Half Yearly performance, refined effective study routines, practised exam techniques, and built confidence in managing exam stress. A specialised Mathematics workshop led by Mrs Edwards and an insightful wellbeing session presented by UTS psychologist Roanna Chan further supported students’ academic growth, critical thinking, collaboration, and resilience as they continue their journey towards HSC success.

Building Future Coders Through the 2026 AMT Challenge

Students from Years 7–10 at Gymea Technology recently participated in the 2026 AMT Coding Challenge, a 45-minute competition held in Room 42. Students tackled 10 challenging questions that tested their algorithmic thinking and problem-solving skills, choosing to code using either block-based programming or Python. Building on the strong coding foundations developed in our Stage 4 and 5 Computing courses, the challenge promoted critical thinking, digital literacy, practical STEM skills, and real-world learning. With participation continuing to grow each year, it was fantastic to see so many students embracing this engaging opportunity to extend their learning.

Year 8 Dance Company Celebrates Festival Performance Success

Congratulations to the Year 8 Dance Company from Gymea Technology on their outstanding performance at the In the Spotlight Dance Festival at The Seymour Centre. Performing their original work, Slither & Strike, students explored the movement and behaviour of a snake at rest and in action with confidence, creativity, and professionalism. Sharing the experience with Sylvania Public School during their technical rehearsal highlighted the value of collaboration and teamwork. Our dancers were exceptional ambassadors for the school, demonstrating respect, commitment, and excellence while embracing authentic performing arts and community engagement opportunities.

Year 7 and 8 Girls Drive Innovation Through Electric Car Engineering

At Gymea Technology High School, our Year 7 and Year 8 GY Girls in Room 85 recently took part in the exciting Engineering Tomorrow Building Electric Cars STEM workshop. Students collaborated with professional engineers to design and build electric vehicles through hands-on, project-based learning. The workshop encouraged creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, experimentation, and innovation while strengthening collaboration skills. This engaging STEM experience supported high potential and gifted education, inspiring students to explore future pathways in engineering and technology with confidence and enthusiasm.

Year 10 Commerce Tackles Business Challenges in Tech Tempest

Students in Year 10 Commerce at Gymea Technology High School recently took part in Tech Tempest, an exciting immersive team-based simulation designed to challenge students to build and manage a tech-enabled business while navigating real-world business risks using AI tools and innovative problem-solving strategies. Through collaboration, critical thinking, inquiry skills, and digital literacy, students demonstrated outstanding creativity and strong academic engagement. The project-based challenge provided an authentic real-world learning opportunity that highlighted innovation, teamwork, and high potential and gifted education in action.

Sydney East Regional Cross Country Championships

Congratulations to our outstanding runners who proudly represented Gymea Technology and the Sutherland Zone at the Sydney East Regional Cross Country Championships held at a muddy Miranda Park. Competing against the best athletes from more than 50 schools across the region, our students demonstrated exceptional resilience, determination, and sporting excellence. Special congratulations to Isaak W (5th, 14 Years Boys 3km) and Nash M (6th, 16 Years Boys 6km), who have qualified to represent Sydney East at the NSW All Schools Championships next term. Strong performances were also recorded by Michael R (10th), Finn A (14th), Finn D (18th), Mason C (22nd), Patrick T (35th), Zoe A (36th) and Charlie H (39th). We also acknowledge Alasdair S and Leon A, who qualified for this level of competition but were unfortunately unable to compete. Well done to all students on their achievements and good luck to Isaak and Nash at the State Championships!

Year 10 Students Achieve Outstanding Success in NSW Minimum Standards

Year 10 students at Gymea Technology High School recently participated in the NSW Minimum Standards assessments, designed to ensure students demonstrate the essential literacy and numeracy skills required for the award of the HSC. We are proud to celebrate outstanding results, with almost every student demonstrating the literacy and numeracy standards required for the HSC midway through Year 10. These achievements reflect students’ strong academic progress and their ability to apply analysing, problem-solving and critical thinking skills to real-world learning challenges. Gymea Technology Students Shine at Sutherland Dance Festival

Gymea Technology proudly celebrated student talent and achievement at the Sutherland Dance Festival, held at The Pavilion Performing Arts Centre in Sutherland. Forty-eight dancers from Years 7–10 showcased their skills in four outstanding performances across two evening shows, alongside students from other Sutherland Shire high schools. Four Year 11 Drama students also demonstrated exceptional confidence and communication skills as comperes for both evenings. Through creativity, collaboration, teamwork and performance, students strengthened community connections while being known, valued and cared for.

Year 9 Mathematics students at Gymea Technology have been actively developing their mathematical skills through engaging digital learning experiences. Using school-issued devices, students accessed interactive activities that provided immediate feedback, enabling them to identify and correct errors in real time. Through collaboration, problem-solving challenges, and online discussion platforms, students strengthened their critical thinking, mathematical reasoning, and digital literacy skills. Year 11 Advanced Mathematics students at Gymea Technology High School have been actively exploring complex concepts aligned with the NSW Mathematics Advanced curriculum. Through collaborative discussions, worked examples, and problem-solving challenges, students strengthened their reasoning, analytical thinking, and communication skills. Learning activities focused on applying mathematical techniques to real-world and examination-style problems, supporting strong academic progress and preparation for senior assessment tasks and the HSC. Teamwork and Determination Drive Table Tennis Success

Year 10 students recently represented Gymea Technology High School at the Sydney East Table Tennis Knockout held at Sydney Olympic Park Sports Halls. Competing against 11 schools from across the region in a series of singles and doubles matches, our students demonstrated outstanding resilience, teamwork, communication and sporting excellence. Despite facing highly skilled opposition, they achieved several impressive results, including a number of hard-fought wins. The experience provided valuable real-world learning opportunities, building confidence, problem-solving skills and collaboration, while showcasing the determination and character that make Gymea Technology students proud representatives of our school.

Walking Together: Honouring Reconciliation on National Sorry Day

On National Sorry Day, Aboriginal students from Gymea Technology High School, alongside students from Bonnet Bay Public School and other schools across the Sutherland Shire, proudly participated in the Walk for Reconciliation. Accompanied by members of our Aboriginal Education Team, students engaged in a range of enriching Indigenous experiences, including native animal encounters, bush tucker demonstrations, spear throwing, painting, and weaving. This meaningful event fostered creativity, collaboration, and community connection while providing valuable opportunities to reflect on and celebrate Reconciliation Week. It was a wonderful example of respectful student participation, student voice, and real-world learning in action.

Hospitality Placements Build Skills, Confidence and Connections

Year 11 Hospitality students from Gymea Technology recently completed work placements at a range of hospitality venues across the Sutherland Shire, gaining invaluable real-world industry experience. Host employers provided overwhelmingly positive feedback, with some describing our students as the best work placement students they had ever hosted. Several students were even offered employment after demonstrating outstanding practical skills, efficiency, teamwork, and professionalism. This hands-on learning opportunity strengthened students’ confidence, independence, and industry connections while reinforcing Gymea Technology’s strong partnerships with respected local businesses.

Building Connections and Commitment During Reconciliation Week

During National Reconciliation Week, students across Gymea Technology High School explored the significance of reconciliation through meaningful Home Group activities centred on this year’s theme, “All In.” Students engaged in critical thinking, reflection, and discussion before creating commitment cards that identified one actionable way our school community can support true reconciliation. This hands-on learning experience empowered student voice, fostered leadership, and strengthened community connections. Through respectful participation and real-world learning, students demonstrated their commitment to creating a more inclusive and united future for all Australians.

Junior Students Demonstrate Excellence During Semester 1 Examinations

Gymea Technology students in Years 7 to 10 recently demonstrated outstanding commitment and resilience during the Junior Semester 1 Examinations held in the School Hall. Students completed formal examinations in English, Mathematics, Science, History, and Geography, gaining valuable experience in a senior-style assessment environment. Through strong preparation and the effective use of the learn.gymea platform, including access to past examination papers, students developed confidence, critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills. Year 11 Biologists Explore Ecosystems at Shelly Beach

Year 11 Biology students from Gymea Technology recently participated in an exciting field excursion to Shelly Beach Rock Platform as part of their Biology Depth Study Assessment. Students investigated ecosystem dynamics and species adaptations through hands-on scientific fieldwork, using quadrats and transects to measure the abundance and distribution of organisms. The excursion provided valuable opportunities to develop critical thinking, problem-solving, research, communication and teamwork skills while applying STEM learning in a real-world environment. This engaging experience supported strong academic progress and helped students build pathways beyond school.

Gymea THS Students Inspire Young Athletes at Kareela PS

Gymea Technology High School’s Year 9 and 10 PASS students have been making a positive impact through their involvement in the Kareela PS PSSA Athletics Program. Each week, students organise and lead engaging athletics activities, teaching a different athletics concept while mentoring younger students and developing fundamental movement skills. This valuable partnership strengthens connections with our local feeder primary schools and provides authentic opportunities for PASS students to demonstrate leadership, teamwork, communication, collaboration, and practical skills. The program showcases student leadership, sporting excellence, real-world learning, and meaningful community engagement.

Building Population Knowledge Through Creative Geography Learning

Year 11 Geography students at Gymea Technology recently brought the Demographic Transition Model (DTM) to life through a creative, hands-on classroom project. The DTM is a model used to explain how a country’s population changes over time as birth rates and death rates rise or fall during different stages of development. Using play dough, students constructed impressive three-dimensional timeline models, transforming this complex concept into an engaging and practical learning experience. The activity encouraged creativity, collaboration, and deeper understanding, while supporting strong academic progress and student pride in their learning.

Gymea Technology Students Honour ANZAC Day With Respect

Gymea Technology proudly commemorated ANZAC Day with a solemn and respectful service led by our 2026 Prefect Team alongside all year groups. Guided by their teachers and Principal Mr Marsh’s inspiring message of courage and standing up for one another, students reflected thoughtfully at the school cenotaph. Our students demonstrated outstanding respect and community spirit, while vocalists Alicia M, Kate R and Jackson M performed the school anthem beautifully. The following morning, our Prefect leaders proudly represented the school at the Miranda RSL Sub-branch Dawn Service through presentations, wreath laying, and commemorative readings, showcasing exceptional leadership, confidence, communication, and community engagement. Thank you to our Prefect Team for the beautifully respectful way they participated in the service, to our Captain Summer H for her thoughtful reading of Let us Commemorate the Fallen to finish the service and to our Captains Blake F, and Vice Captains Emeline C and Charlotte F for laying books of remembrance. 

Gymea Technology Swimmers Excel at NSW CHS Championships

Gymea Technology students continue to demonstrate outstanding sporting excellence, competing against the state’s best swimmers at the NSW CHS Swimming Championships held at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre. Congratulations to Michael R (Year 10), who achieved top results including 5th in the 15 Years Boys 50m Freestyle and 200m Freestyle, and 6th in the 100m Freestyle, recording personal best times in every event. Isaak W (Year 8) also delivered an impressive performance, placing 17th in the 12–14 Years Boys 400m Freestyle with a new personal best. These achievements reflect the confidence, dedication, and commitment to excellence fostered through student choice and participation at Gymea Technology.

Alumni Inspiring Future Success at Gymea Technology High School

Alumni support plays an important role at Gymea Technology High School, with former students returning to mentor and inspire learners across Years 7–12. Drawing on their undergraduate and postgraduate study experiences, alumni contribute to specialised programs and academic enrichment across subjects including Physics, all levels of Mathematics, Chemistry and English. Their involvement strengthens our High Potential and Gifted Education programs, helping students build confidence, raise aspirations and achieve success. We are proud to spotlight these specialised programs and the strength of the connections we continue to build, supporting increased student success at school and ultimately for many, strong university pathways into courses across medicine, engineering, mathematics, science and the humanities.

Year 9 PASS Students Lead at Athletics Carnival

Our Year 9 PASS students demonstrated outstanding leadership while assisting at Gymea North Primary School’s Athletics Carnival. Acting as positive role models, the students played a key role in the success of the field events by recording results, measuring distances, and enthusiastically encouraging younger participants throughout the day. Their teamwork, communication, and collaborative spirit highlighted the strong community connection between Gymea Technology and Gymea North Primary. Geography Competition Inspires Critical Thinking and Academic Excellence

Gymea Technology proudly celebrated the outstanding participation of 70 students from Years 7–10 in the Australian Geography Competition, held in the Technology Centre. Open to all secondary schools across Australia, the competition assessed students’ geographical knowledge and skills while encouraging excellence and a passion for geography. Students demonstrated strong analysing, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, building confidence through real-world learning and the use of technology. This valuable opportunity supported strong academic progress and highlighted our commitment to high potential and gifted education programs.

Year 7 STEM Girls Innovate Through Real-World Project Learning

Year 7 STEM Girls at Gymea Technology are embracing innovation and real-world learning through our unique STEMspire program. This term, students worked collaboratively in small teams to design and pitch authentic STEM projects inspired by issues they are passionate about. After a class vote, the girls selected a project focused on developing a technological solution to address disparities in the diagnosis of women’s health issues. Through project-based learning, students are strengthening their critical thinking, inquiry skills, creativity, and collaboration while amplifying student voice, choice, and participation in meaningful STEM learning experiences.

Year 9 Students Explore Creativity Through Portrait Drawing

Year 9 Creative Arts students at Gymea Technology have been developing their portrait drawing skills through hands-on exploration and experimentation with graphite pencil techniques. Students used the gridding method to accurately map facial proportions while applying tone, highlights, and shading to create depth and realism in their artworks. Through designing, creating, and experimenting, students demonstrated creativity, practical skill development, and strong artistic growth. The activity also encouraged student voice, participation, and confidence in creative expression.

Visual Arts Students Inspired by Art Express Exhibition

Year 11 and 12 Visual Arts students from Gymea Technology recently visited the Art Gallery of NSW to experience Art Express, an exhibition showcasing outstanding HSC Body of Works from previous students. The excursion provided valuable insight into the diverse artistic approaches, creative processes, and techniques celebrated within the HSC Visual Arts curriculum. Through analysing and reflecting on high-quality artworks, students strengthened their critical thinking skills while gaining inspiration for their own creative and project-based learning journeys.

Year 10 Students Solve The Great Elf Wrapping Crisis

Our Year 10 students tackled “The Great Elf Wrapping Crisis” through a hands-on mathematical investigation exploring the surface area of 3D composite solids. Working collaboratively, students measured shapes, sketched nets, and calculated the exact amount of wrapping paper required while identifying hidden surfaces and minimising wastage. The activity strengthened students’ problem-solving, reasoning, measurement, and unit conversion skills through engaging real-world STEM learning. Students demonstrated excellent collaboration, critical thinking, and academic achievement throughout the challenge.

Gymea Technology Students Excel in Big Science Competition

Year 7–10 students from Gymea Technology proudly participated in the Big Science Competition through Visual Studio as part of a HPGE enrichment opportunity. This national competition challenged students to apply their scientific knowledge, critical thinking, problem-solving, and data analysis skills across a range of real-world scenarios. Students demonstrated creativity, communication, resilience, and strong academic achievement throughout the experience. Their participation showcased a commitment to STEM learning, student voice, and excellence in high potential and gifted education opportunities.

Year 9 Students Explore Science Through Real-World Microbiology Investigations

Our Year 9 science students brought microbiology to life through an exciting, hands-on investigation into how effectively everyday cleaning products stop bacterial growth. Designing and conducting fair experiments, students tested household and commercial cleaners on cultured bacteria, carefully measuring results over time. They analysed data, compared product performance, and explored factors influencing effectiveness, from formulation to application. The project strengthened critical thinking, laboratory skills, and scientific reasoning while building awareness of hygiene and health. By presenting detailed reports and visual data, students showcased real-world scientific understanding and the confidence to make informed choices in their daily lives and futures ahead.

Exploring Animal Classification Through a Taronga Zoo Adventure

Year 7 students recently embarked on an exciting excursion to Taronga Zoo, bringing their study of biological classification to life. Guided by expert educators, students explored how animals are grouped based on shared characteristics, observing mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish up close.
The hands-on experience enriched classroom learning and allowed students to collect valuable observations for their upcoming assessment task. By engaging with real-world examples of biodiversity, students developed a deeper understanding of classification systems and the importance of conserving wildlife, fostering both scientific curiosity and environmental awareness.

Engineering Creativity: Year 10 Students Build Rube Goldberg Machines

Our Year 10 students embraced innovation through an exciting STEM enrichment activity, designing and constructing their own Rube Goldberg machines. This hands-on challenge brought science to life as students applied concepts of energy transfer, motion, and forces to create complex chain reactions that completed simple tasks, while working collaboratively to plan, test, and refine their designs using everyday materials. Demonstrating creativity, critical thinking, and resilience, students overcame challenges and showcased impressive engineering solutions, all while developing teamwork and communication skills. Finn D Shines at NSW Junior Athletics Championships

Congratulations to Finn D Year 8 for his outstanding performance at the NSW Junior Athletics Championships, held from 12 to 15 March at Sydney Olympic Park Athletic Centre and run by NSW Athletics. Finn achieved an impressive 3rd place in the 14 Years Boys 400m Final, earning selection in the NSW Team to compete at the Australian Championships in Brisbane this April. He has also secured a qualifying time in the 200m for Nationals. This remarkable achievement reflects Finn’s dedication and talent, well done and best of luck at the National Titles!

Inspiring Creativity and Innovation at UTS SHAPE Excursion

Our SHAPE excursion to University of Technology Sydney was an immersive and inspiring experience for our Year 12 Multimedia and Year 12 Design and Technology students. Exploring the SHAPE exhibition, students were inspired by outstanding HSC projects that sparked creativity and ambition. A guided tour of the innovative Data Arena and advanced fabrication labs offered a glimpse into the future of design and technology, while a campus tour provided valuable insight into university life. An expert seminar from a senior HSC marker equipped students with practical strategies to maximise their results. The day concluded with visits to iconic architectural landmarks including One Central Park and the remarkable Dr Chau Chak Wing Building, leaving students inspired, informed, and ready to excel in their creative journeys.

Bringing History to Life Through First-hand Testimony

Our high potential and gifted education students from Year 10 History participated in a deeply enriching excursion on Thursday 26 March, engaging in a Holocaust education workshop delivered by Sydney Jewish Museum at The Central Synagogue. Guided by professional historians, students explored powerful exhibits and developed a deeper understanding of this significant period in history. The most impactful moment came through hearing firsthand testimony from a Holocaust survivor, offering an authentic and deeply human perspective. This experience strengthened students’ historical understanding and encouraged thoughtful reflection on the importance of remembrance and learning from the past.

Students Lace Up for GTHS Cross Country Carnival

Students from Years 7 to 10 proudly took part in the GTHS Cross Country Carnival on Wednesday 25 March, held on the school grounds and coordinated by N Breen and Sport teachers. All participants completed a challenging 3km course, with students demonstrating determination, resilience, and school spirit, whether striving for a personal best or aiming to qualify for Zone. We congratulate our 2026 Age Champions: Zoe A 12 Years Girls, Charlie H 12 Years Boys, Chelsea R and Amelia W 13 Years Girls, Kei S and Thomas B 13 Years Boys, Tiffany F 14 Years Girls, Isaak W and Maxim K 14 Years Boys, Michael R 15 Years Boys, Annastasia M 16 Years Girls, and Nash M 16 Years Boys. Well done to all competitors, and best of luck to our runners representing GTHS at the Zone Carnival next term.

Students Break GTHS Swimming Records

A huge congratulations to five outstanding students from Years 7 to 10 who broke school records at the GTHS Swimming Carnival held on Friday 27 February at Caringbah Leisure Centre, coordinated by R Ellis and the PDHPE Faculty. Michael R set four new records in the 15 Years Boys events including 100m freestyle, 50m breaststroke, 50m butterfly, and 50m freestyle, while Chelsea R matched this achievement in the 13 Years Girls category. Isaak W, Estelle R, and Nash M each secured new records in their respective events. Students were presented with certificates recognising their achievements. Well done to all for these exceptional performances and for making school history.
Congratulations also to our GTHS swimmers who competed at the Sutherland Zone Carnival at Sutherland Pool. Highlights included Isaak W crowned 14 Years Boys Age Champion and Chelsea R named 13 Years Girls Age Champion, while Michael R set a new 15 Years Boys 50m Freestyle Zone Record.

Athletics Carnival Highlights: Record-Breaking Success

Congratulations to our students who set new school records at the athletics carnival. Highlight performers Estelle, Zoe and Finn each broke three records, leading an outstanding field of achievers. Many others excelled across events, showcasing talent and determination. Well done to all on these remarkable performances and inspiring achievements for our school community.

Outstanding Thredbo Results for Our Rising Riders

Mitchell delivered a fantastic performance at the Thredbo mountain biking schools event, finishing 48th out of 339 riders in the Flow race and 38th out of 232 in Downhill. This reflects outstanding improvement from last year, and his family are incredibly proud. Congratulations also to Nate for an exceptional event, placing 1st in the Pump Track challenge, 5th in Cannonball, 6th in All Mountain, and 10th in Flow, securing 4th overall in his division. These results highlight the dedication, talent, and determination of both riders. Congratulations to our talented riders on their success.

Year 7 Enjoy an Outstanding Start to High School

Year 7 students have enjoyed a very successful start to their high school journey. It has been wonderful to see how confidently they have settled into new classroom routines and school life. Their first day included Peer Support sessions with Year 10 mentors, reinforcing our Positive Behaviour for Learning expectations of being safe, respectful and successful learners. Students also enjoyed lunch together, their first classes, and a sport session featuring fun challenge activities that encouraged teamwork and friendly competition.

Breakfast Club Brings Nutrition, Community and Smiles Each Thursday

Breakfast Club is back for 2026 and we are excited to welcome students once again on Thursday mornings from 8:00am to 8:40am in our Hospitality kitchens. This year’s menu offers even more variety, including toast, cereals and a few tasty surprises. We extend a sincere thank you to our generous sponsors Bakers Delight and One Meal for providing bread and funding to help meet growing student demand. Breakfast Club provides all students with a free, nutritious start to the day and a welcoming space to connect before learning begins. All students are welcome at no cost.

Our Presentation Evening was a celebration of excellence, recognising high potential and gifted students for outstanding achievement across the intellectual, creative, physical and social emotional domains. The evening showcased significant accomplishments in sport, alongside beautifully choreographed dance performances and outstanding music and vocal items that shone brightly. Together, these moments reflected who we are as a school community, one that values diversity, respect, inclusion and shared experience. They highlighted how students learn and grow in a positive, accepting environment where differences are celebrated and connection and respect are central. We congratulate all award recipients and encourage our students to continue striving, challenging themselves and taking pride in their journey. This exciting and well deserved experience celebrated outstanding attendance, positive engagement, and a strong commitment to learning throughout the year. Our Celebration Assemblies brought each year group together to proudly reflect on the year, recognise achievement, and celebrate student success. These assemblies ensured every student was acknowledged and individually congratulated for their learning, effort, and participation. Innovation and Data Drive Gymea’s GovHack High Success

Students from Gymea Technology High School achieved outstanding success at GovHack High, the student-focused version of Australia’s open data hackathon. Working with real government and open datasets, students developed creative, data-driven solutions to real-world problems.

A Year 9 team achieved first place in their category with an innovative solution designed to support electric vehicle trip planning across NSW, combining sustainability, user-centred design and data analysis. Their work impressed judges for its practicality and clarity.

Building on this success, a Year 11 team were named runners-up for their thoughtful solution addressing how to keep schools cooler, tackling a timely environmental challenge through evidence-based design.

These achievements highlight Gymea Technology High School’s strong focus on innovation, collaboration and authentic STEM learning, empowering students to turn data into meaningful solutions.

Each year, our SLA team delivers a memorable celebration, and this year’s multicultural event was truly outstanding. With 50 SLA students and the support of many dedicated staff, the day proudly celebrated who we are as a school that values diversity, respect, inclusion, and shared experience. Blending the event with a rewards lunch added to the positive atmosphere and engagement.
