Advanced Learning Pathway: STEM and Academics
The Advanced Learning Pathway: STEM and Academics is designed for students who thrive in academically rigorous learning environments and have a strong interest in STEM and technology.
The program offers enriched and in-depth study across core subjects while integrating advanced technology learning and problem-solving experiences.
Students develop strong study habits, analytical thinking and collaborative skills aligned to the expectations of senior secondary learning. The pathway supports accelerated learning opportunities, early exposure to HSC-style study, and preparation for high-level academic achievement and university pathways.
All students are invited to participate in the High Potential and Gifted Education program student assessment process. Placement in the Advanced Learning Pathway: STEM and Academics class in Year 7 is determined using multiple sources of evidence, including student performance in assessments of literacy, numeracy and writing skills conducted in May, as well as information provided by primary schools. Parents and carers are invited to submit additional documentation to support the application, including records of academic achievement, NAPLAN data, participation in literacy and numeracy competitions, school reports or other relevant information.
Future Pathways for our High Potential students
The majority of our students head into further tertiary study as they graduate from Gymea Technology High School. For our High Potential Gifted students, we see them achieving placement across many of our world class University’s year after year both through early entry into courses and through their high performance in the Higher School Certificate.
You can hear from some of our past graduates who were inspired to pursue STEM pathways after their involvement in our High Potential and Gifted programs in the short video below.
