Examination Information
- Year 7-10 Semester 1 examinations are scheduled from Tuesday 27 May through to Tuesday 3 June.
- Formal examinations are held for all core subjects: English, Mathematics, Science and History/Geography.
- Examinations assess all work studied this year and marks contribute to Semester 1 report marks.
- Other subjects conduct assessments during regular class time – these also contribute to report marks.
- Preparing well for examinations helps students perform to their best, manage exam nerves and stress.
- Students receive task notifications outlining all examination details. These notifications are also available for download from the school website.
Preparing for Exams
Being prepared is key to reducing exam nerves and helping students achieve their best. Here are some strategies that can help:
- Allocating dedicated study time for each subject
- Reviewing lesson notes
- Completing homework
- Making summaries and/or concept maps
- Completing revision provided by teachers
- Practising past papers
- Explaining a particular topic to a friend or family member
Knowing what to expect
Understanding exam expectations also helps students feel prepared and perform at their best. Students should:
- Know the weighting, length and format of each exam.
- Practise for the different styles of questions such as multiple choice, short answers, extended responses and problem solving to improve their examination technique.
- Confirm with their teacher any equipment needed, such as a calculator and ruler.
Attendance
- If a student is absent on an exam day, notify the school before 8:30 am on 9521-3244.
- Arrangements for catch-up exams must be made with the relevant Head Teacher.
- Appropriate documentation (ie. Medical certificate) should be provided to the office.
