Curriculum Open Night for study in 2026

Welcome to our Curriculum Open Night on Tuesday 5 August – an exciting evening for students and families in Years 8 to 12!

This special event provides a valuable opportunity to explore a wide range of curriculum presentations, tour the school, meet faculty staff, ask questions, and learn more about subject options and future learning pathways.

To assist students with selecting their elective subjects for 2026, targeted information sessions and displays will be available for families of students currently in Years 8, 9, and 10. Additionally, a short session will be held for families of students in the HPGE Accelerated stream to provide insights into the accelerated program offered in Years 9 and 10.

For students currently in Years 10, 11, and 12 who are considering a university pathway, two dedicated sessions will be offered:

  • An overview of HSC scaling and the ATAR
  • A guide to UAC processes and university admission pathways

Don’t miss this opportunity to explore subject offerings, connect with teachers, visit university exhibitions, and speak with vocational providers about future options.

We look forward to welcoming you on the night!

Process for Subject Selection for 2026

It’s that important time of year when students begin selecting their elective subjects for 2026.

For Year 8 students, this marks an exciting milestone—the first opportunity to shape their own curriculum and learning journey.

Year 9 students will reselect electives, building on their interests and deepening their studies for another year.

Year 10 students will be choosing the subjects they will study in Years 11 and 12 as they work towards their Higher School Certificate.

To support students and families with these important decisions, we are hosting a Curriculum Information Night, featuring presentations and open learning spaces. Families will have the chance to speak with teachers, explore course options, and gain valuable insights into the subjects available in 2026.

Don’t miss this opportunity to plan ahead and make informed choices for a successful academic future

Individualising Senior Subject Selection for Year 11 2026

Our Curriculum Pathway Planning program continues to evolve, strengthening the way we connect with families and tailor the subject selection process for each student. A key feature of this program is the individualised Subject Selection Interviews, conducted annually following our Subject Selection Information Evening. These interviews are led by a member of the Executive Team, who works closely with each student to guide their choices and ensure they are well-informed. This personalised approach, in partnership with families, has consistently proven to be highly valuable.

This year, Year 10 students will once again participate in one-on-one interviews with an Executive Curriculum Adviser to support their subject selections for 2026. These interviews will take place during school hours on the afternoon of Wednesday, 13 August. Each session will run for approximately 20 minutes, providing students with the opportunity to reflect on their goals and choose the subjects that best align with their interests and future aspirations.

Please note: Sport will not be held for Year 10 students on this afternoon to accommodate these important interviews. Students on paid sport who wish to attend that sport are to see the deputy principal to arrange an earlier interview.

Helping students explore choices

Taster Lessons and Vocational Careers Workshops

Year 10 students will be able to participate in two days of a combination of “Taster” lessons and Vocational Careers workshops where year 10 can get a taste of their pathway for next year. Each Taster lesson covers the content focus of that subject, the HSC requirements and a taste of what the HSC project, performance or exam looks like to allow students to gain an insight before selecting their courses.
