- Congratulations to all of our students and families who undertook our online tutoring program this year.
- Developed initially to support remote learning, the program has been highly successful in continuing small group literacy and numeracy support for registered students across years 7 to 10.
The program for 2021 finished this week and with its successes, will recommence in 2022.
- Families will be notified of the opportunity to register for the 2022 online tutoring program early in 2022.
The impacts of COVID-19 during the 2020 remote learning period prompted the NSW Government to provide additional funding to schools this year to support the development of all students’ literacy and numeracy learning. This saw the development of our COVID Literacy and Numeracy tutoring program begin earlier this year, with small group withdrawals occurring in English and Mathematics.
As remote learning hit at the beginning of Term 3, we redefined this program to deliver online. Through the assistance of some talented past students of ours who are all University undergraduates this year and trained by our English and Mathematics staff to deliver our tutoring program, we commenced our Online Tutoring Program for students who registered remotely.
The program focused on our tutors delivering targeted literacy and numeracy learning developed by our English and Mathematics staff to small groups of no more than 5 students from a year group. The pilot saw 100 students sign up and as we launched the official program, over 150 students were registered. Throughout remote learning, this online tutoring helped to support students with their learning in English and Mathematics.
As we returned to face-to-face learning, the program adapted to become a series of after-school online tutoring sessions. These occurred twice a week with tutoring sessions running for 45 minutes each and continued throughout Term 4. Thank you to our students and their parents who have provided such positive feedback on the value of our online tutoring program.
It is this feedback that sees us continuing the program in 2022. Information about how you can register your child for these online sessions will follow as the new year begins. You can watch our short video about the Online Tutoring Program below.
